How / Where can I get a healthy pet mouse / mice?

I hear bad things about both pet shops and breeders. Mass bred, health issues, little human contact, so on and so forth. Where am I suppose to buy a healthy pet mouse? I realize health issues are possible no matter where mice are adopted, but I'd like to avoid it as much as possible. I've tried Craigslist for the past few months, but surprisingly, no one has had any available here in Maine. I've also tried Pet Finder but there is none around here. And no mice rescue in Maine that I can find (only rat rescue). So where am I suppose to find a healthy Fancy Mouse? (I'm actually going to be getting 2 females).
