What do I say to my shy bf? 13 yrs?

Idk what to say to my bf. We r 13 and have been dating for a month. We r both shy. It is hard to talk to him sometimes (txt). He always says- I gtg - after a few txts.. ? Is that normal. He is kinda too hard to talk to but he is so cute! Help!
