Give him his space. At least for now. Just because he said you are pretty doesn't mean he got to text you every day. Apparently he doesn't know how you feel and you need to tell him next time you all talk. It's ok for now because you don't owe him anything and he don't owe you anything. You just went out one day that is all. So in the end it looks like you are expecting more than was given. He isn't leading you on either you just have to take things for no more than they were given.
